Had Pajeros for 30 years and only found out there was a special tool this year.
I just use a pair of Phillip head screw drivers or pin punches in the holes, then a large screw driver between the 2 as a lever.
Never had an issue tensioning the bearings.

I wouldn't be surprised if a good old cam sprocket holder would also do the trick. I have one that came with multiple sized pins and it's adjustable in span.
