    Clutch replacement / gearbox removal

    Hi All,
Have to replace my clutch in my 4x4 SWB NG. Can i separate the box and motor, or pull it out all attached? The crossmember under the car at the back of the box won't allow the box to just drop out? bit stuck and any help would be greatly appreciated..

on the nj you seperate the box , then push it backwards over the welded cross member and then the front of the box drops down so you can bring it forward and out below the engine, I would say yours would be the same. is much easier on a hoist than on stands.

I concur with schnitzel. I put front up on stands or ramps then slide it back then drop down at the front and pull forwards.
Can be tricky so a gearbox attachment on a floor jack is a wise move. Mine I use is massive and has a head the size of a small dinner plate so I just leave mount on gearbox and tie it to the head.

drop the gearbox mount, then you use 3 or 4 12inch extension bars and a uni joint and get it from almost the back of the gear box is normally the remedy.

sometimes you even need to drop the engine mount on that side to get access.
