Winch rope and hook fitting question

Feel like such a douche for posting this but wanted to see what other ppl have done in this situation..

I bought one of the “genuine” (yeah right) Dyneema winch ropes off some off road website and realised when it arrived that my existing Warn hook (which seems to be a standard size) doesn’t fit on.

Anyone else done something creative that doesn’t involve too much filing or the like?

You cannot file the hook yoke without reducing its strength.
You could just use a shackle instead of the hook.

My Runva Winch came with a "Thimble"

Runva Electric Recovery Winch Shackle Thimble

Depending where in Sydney you are, happy for you to check it out and see if your rope will fit.

I,ve a few hooks here that came off winches. I wouldn't use them. Get a rated shackle. Paint it yellow if your into aesthetics.

Thanks gentlemen. I think a rated shackle is a good idea. And MSF, I may take you up on that offer sometime in the new year to take a look. I’ll PM you. Thanks all.
