22 inch Lightbar - 4WD Supercentre

Now just need to fit / wire it all up ... have already done half the wiring while I was waiting for it to arrive

That's the plan ...

Pulled the front "snout" off my RX last night. I was hoping to mount the LED Bar there, but it's all plastic ... even the "standard" bumper underneath

Looks like I'll have to make a small bracket to mount from the metal cross piece behind the grill.

Don't suppose anyone who's got one of these light bars know's which pin on the Deutsch plug is the positive? ... I've got the images from their wiring loom, so will go with what I can see there and hope that no smoke leaks out

What about those numberplate bar mounts?

No, not on the plug coming from the back of the LED bar, and everything is heat shrinked, so can't see colours either. Labels are Pin1 and Pin2 .... not much help re + vs -

When I first got the RX, the I thought the snout looked a little funny, but it's kinda grown on me over the last year and a bit ... wanted to avoid a nudge bar etc if possible, and keep the front as clean as possible. Placed the LED bar where I'd want it positioned, and I'm happy with the look. Just need to make sure it's mounted to more than just plastic

I thought the area behind the number plate is metal so one of those number plate light bar mounts may do the job. Seen plenty of Rangers etc without bullbars or nudgebars use them.

I guess it would be if I didn't have the RX model. I didn't pull the number plate off last night, but the whole unit it's attached to is plastic. At best, it would be like where the mounting screws on the back attach, where there's metal captive nuts mounted into the plastic, but the main structure isn't metal.

These LED light bars are quite heavy. I suspect they will put a fair loading on whatever mounting you use, particularly off road & on corrugations, etc.

Some have removed the RX "snout", fitted the plastic bumper inserts & a nudge bar (search for thread). The genuine nudge bars are only about $195 on ebay at present from a Mitsi dealer with free freight to most states. I have just fitted a similar light bar to a nudge bar and I wouldn't feel comfortable putting it on anything weaker.

Thanks for the info Spot01, will look into it more this weekend. I agree it needs proper support, and I intend to give it that, just hoping to do so out of sight behind the snout if possible ...

Can probably use the nudgebar mount behind the grille in conjunction with other mounts to secure a bracket.

It is behind the grille. It should only take a minute to pop the scrivets and remove the top grille.

I don't have any photos, but will try to explain:

On a car without the RX "snout", the nudge bar has 2 top brackets that go in through the grille each side of the number plate & bend around, bolting into the metal bar that goes across under the top inside edge of the bumper (2 of the existing plastic clips are removed & replaced with bolts). Access is with the upper grille removed.

The 2 bottom mounting lugs bolt into where the 2 bolts hold up the front of the factory intercooler bash plate (they use longer bolts & spacers, into the same captive nuts)

Hop this makes sense.

If you search, someone posted the fitting instructions a while back.

I had the grill / snout / int. guard off last night and saw all of that, too easy
Just wasn't sure if there was somewhere else the nudge bar connected to behind the grill.

Planning on a couple of metal plates screwed in behind the bumper where the top mounts for the nudge bar are, and coming forward (will need to trim bumper / snout as required). That in conjunction with the bumper / snout should do it.
