Hi all
When I was considering a Pajero for my next vehicle, this forum was a great source of confidence in that choice. I went with a 2007 NS LWB DID Pajero with about 119K. I have had it just over a year now and I am very happy with it. I have been through the stress of a blocked manifold, but once I worked out what the problem was (from this forum) I had an enjoyable day repairing it. It was also a great excuse to buy a torque wrench.
I have been browsing this forum for a while and have had some great information from it, so I thought I would start posting some of my experiences and mods.
I have a few mods I would like to do over the next few years but that will be slowly as my budget allows.
The first big job was the intake manifold. The truck was stalling on me at idle. It got so bad it would stall going around round abouts and coasting up to a stop light. It took a while to confirm the manifold, but once I stuck a piece of wire through the MAP sensor hole I realised how bad it was.
I have posted briefly about this here…
Currently I am building rear bash plate for the bumper. I remember all too well the sound of the tow bar on my dads old Land Cruiser smashing the ground, and the bumper on the Pajero is very low and long. The tow bar on the NZ NS seems deferent to the bars I have seen on this site, and it will offer a fair bit of protection, but the bumper is still vulnerable, hence the guard. I got a piece of 3mm 1220 x 200 bent by a professional to the right angle. The rest I am ad-hocking as I go with some scrap metal I have. I haven’t finished yet, but here are some pictures of the progress so far…
By the way, I’m not great at welding, so I go by the old sailors saying, “If you can’t tie knots, tie lots”
