    What going on here?

Renault-Nissan Alliance joins top three global automotive groups as it completes 34-percent acquisition of Mitsubishi Motors; Ghosn named new MMC Chairman.

The headline is a little misleading, typical "click bait".

I'm optimistic that this could be good for the future of the Pajero brand. Patrol has gone too big and soft, and Pathfinder doesn't seem to be everything it should be. I think a evolution of the Pajero would work well in the Nissan line-up, and the Renault link could provide a 3l V6 diesel with 180kW /450Nm, with a 6 speed auto transmission - although it would probably mean going back to Jatco rather than sticking with Aisin.
NT Platinum. DiD Auto with 265/70R17 ST Maxx, Lift, Lockers, Lockup Mate, Low range reduction, LRA Aux tank, bull bar, winch, lots of touring stuff. Flappy paddles. MMCS is gone!

Project: NJ SWB. 285/75R16 ST Maxx, 2" OME suspension, 2" body lift, ARB 110, 120l tank, bullbar, scratches, no major dents. Fully engineered in SA. NW DiD & auto in place - a long way to go....

Or it could mean the final demise of the Pajero as Nissan have shown decreasing interest in the "hard" 4WD market - preferring instead to shift towards SUV type vehicles.

And Renault have had zero interest in the 4WD market up to now.

I'm still not confident that there's a future for the Pajero in this venture.
