    Falken wild peak A/T 01

    Anyone tried these
    Falken wild peak A/T 01
    Come in a LT275/65 18
I don't want to go bigger than 65
    Otherwise come in a P275/70 18

How much rougher is the ride with an LT tyre seeing as though they run at 80PSI compared to 40PSI

I'd like to watch you put 80psi in your Paj's tyres!! From a long way away.

LT are meant to run 60-80PSI
P are meant to run 40PSI
LT has a lot higher load rating

LT may have a lot higher load rating but you still wouldn't run more than 38PSI or so for on road travel.

I have these tyres on my NS shorty, in the size you quote.

I run mine at 38psi (rear) and 36psi (front) on my paj.

Off-road I tend to drop them initially to 22psi, and they do fine.

I've found them good for what they are, although the outer skin on the side wall does tend to mark quite easily. But only when going through really rocky sections.

I think with the shipping they were about $400 per tyre. Which wasn't too bad.

Wear seems pretty good, although I have taken them through some pretty tough tracks in the last 8 months. But they still have a good 3/4 of tread left after about 20,000kms. My only gripe is the outer sidewall seems a little prone to damge from sharp rocks, the carcus has remained intact though.

They are a bit noisier than I was expecting, as they are more aggressive than they look. The tread cleans itself well in all but the thickest mud holes.

Would I get them again? To be honest, I'm not sure. This isn't anything against the tyre. It's just my driving requirements have changed since getting them.

Go to sites such as www.tirerack.com and you will see the savings by purchasing overseas. I was quoted approx $90 per tyre to have them delivered to my house.
eg coopers i wanted were $480 in aus and $179 in usa.
so 179 + 90 delivery and $30 install from local fitter saw me at $299 per corner so you save some cash depending on your tyre of course.

When I got mine they weren't available here.

But just checking the Falken website I see you can now get them. Which is good if I ever get a puncture.

Hankook RF10's also get a good rap too.

Must admit I had never heard of these tyres before, 'til I seen them in the latest Bob Jane T-Mart catalogue. Seemed a good price for my size tyre (265/65 R17 112S) at $269. I gather they are LT 10 ply? aren't they??
I know Falken make an excellent road tyre, for sedans and sport type vehicles, not sure if that is the same with their A/T tyre?

[edit] Nah, checked a few sites, including Bob Jane and it appears that my tyre size is only passenger rating, not Light Truck.
Next size up is LT (265/70 R17) but OD is way too big to be legal here in SA. (774mm vs 804mm)
