Locking the rear diff (if you have it) will turn off traction control.
Thank you so much for that graphic. I'm an engineer and I love a table like that, it makes perfect sense that it follows what 4wd mode you're in it starts to dumb down the computer and let you deliver power. Great advice for sand.
Lots of good information on here, but you just need to be searching the right way.
You can use the search function here but it is better to use google to search.
Start with the web address and then add the key words you are looking for.
Scooby, Scott, Scooter, Whatever.
Pajero 2013 NW VRX DID Auto. Basically Stock. 300k. Heavier rear springs to tow the GG’s. Automate also to tow the GG,s.
This is keeping me of the beach for the moment, along with rear bumber/ sand scoop
My car runs with just the original bash plates it came with, and I take it off roading at the beach although nothing super hardcore. Am a regular at Bribie, and have done Teewah beach too. My car has the rear A/C, so that offers a bit of protection to the rear bumper from acting as a scoop. While I am not endorsing the lack of need for protection, just saying that with a bit of caution, you can still do the beach trip with the stock Paj.
Can I ask specifically about the bash plates that you guys have, I want everything from the front bumper to the diff covered by steel.

Hi Spenceee,
I have Boos bash plates. (https://www.boosbashplates.com.au/) I have from the bullbar to the back of the transfer case covered. They are made of steel which makes them heavy. The total weight of my plates would be around 25 kg or so. There are alloy ones available so these might be worth a look as well.
I have mine because I drive a bit in the vic high country where a rock or stick is likely to cause grief under there. Even so, for sand driving I would recommend at least replacing the front 'protection' of the intercooler with a decent plate.
As to suspension, keep thinking of spending $2k. You may well end up getting a kit for $1200 but if you cant fit it yourself, then another $500 could be added to that. At least if you allow the full $2k then you wont be tempted to choose your setup on price alone. Pajeros are fussy due to their independent rear end. When you don't spend the full amount,on suspension, it can be put towards the next accessory.

I'm a Brissy boy mate and bribie is a key reason for buying the Pajero. Do you have a lift ? How does she perform.
What do you mean buy rear A/C? I don't see how air conditioning changes your rear bumper? But perhaps I have more learn...
In my opinion, if you go anywhere outside blacktop or gravel roads then you need the following
intercooler bash plate
sump bash plates
rear bumper bash plate (when driving on sand the rear bumper acts as a scoop and can pop up)
I also recommend towbar, not only for towing but also for protection and for recovery hitch, it is actually required to install bushskinz rear bash plate.
I had 2 accidents when someone rear-ended me at slow speed and combination of towbar+recovery hitch stopped the small cars doing damage to me but caused the other car bonnet to buckle.
NWM14, GLXR, spare wheel lift kit, MM tow bar, bushskinz front/sump/auto/trans/rear bumper guards and side steps, rhino pioneer platform, ARB delux bullbar
It's got a factory towbar installed, which sweetened the deal. Would have fitted one if it wasn't there. As per my first post, I'm not going off road without bash plates, but I wasnt' aware of the rear bumper scooping sand which is a key use case for me. I've been researching the bash plates like crazy, but there are a few good options out there. Thanks for the advice
