    NS auto trans gasket

    Hi guys quick question

About to change the auto trans filter and do a flush with new oil. Ordered the filter and comes with a gasket......but the online service manual states to use a gasket sealant.

Just wondering what have other used, one or the other or both?

    Cheers.

      Hey Aussie

I have an NP which I think has the same motor and tranny as yours, it definitely uses a blue gasket goo in a tube as the transmission gasket. However after being so frustrated by the goo I rang Mitsubishi Spares and they told me a different sump, longer bolts and a gasket were indeed available, they even gave me prices and part numbers.
So I guess it is possible that you have a gasket but not likely

      Cheers Glenn

Yeah thanks for that Stroker............had look under the paj......no sign of a gasket so just going to do the cure inplace sealant. Bought some ultra black permatex and will do the job next weekend.

        Cheers.

I attempted this once, but found the dipstick tube attached to the sump. It may come apart but I gave up as it looked to hard.

I just used the silicone as I purchased the filter from the dealer and no gasket was available from memory

the dip stick housing will come out with a slight twist and pull with some grips. [ don,t squash it ]

Thanks for the replies......defo going with the sealnt only when I do it this weekend.

Dolphin looking at the online diagrams, it looks like the dipstick tube splits halfway up........that sound about right? And if so just a twist and pull?

Well completed the ATF flush and filter change using genuine Mitsi fluid. Paj changes gears alot smoother so real happy. Old oil was fairly discoloured but didnt smell burnt.

Used the permatex ultra black, no leaks to date and it was easy to pull the dipstuck tube with the oil sump. Ended up using approx 17 to 18 litres to do the complete flush.......all nice cherry red.

I haven't done a write up as its already on here, so i followed the service guide on mmc-manuals.ru.

                  Happy as.
