Have gone through this thread and I know it's all about Gen 3 but the part numbers are the same for the motor and entire HBB unit. Went to MM here in Darwin to confirm part numbers and prices. Photos too large to attach on here. I'll scan tomorrow to reduce sizes. $1300 for new pump. $3900 for entire unit, ex Japan and due to covid up to 8 weeks turnaround. ABS relays A&B $144 each. Abs relay near battery $145. Not sure if I'm missing looking at any other fuses or relays, checked the fuse under the steering wheel.

Tested relays and all appeared working fine. Had a cheap scan tool which didn't pick up the errors. Dropped to a local mechanic this morning. Charged $120 for scan tool use and $138 for an hrs labour, put a smile on my face

Managed to resize some pics with the Error codes. Has anybody seen that many codes with regards the ABS? Definitely the motor replacement? The open/short relay code I'm not sure about as I had tested them with a battery at home, maybe it just needed that code cleared.

Also my snorkel comes right in-between the HBB unit and airbox holder, pic attached. Is there enough room to get the unit out with the snorkel piping there?

With the costs quoted from MM for parts and from the mechanic to do the works, also had bursons quote about $2K for them to send the unit down to be refurbished, in Vic I believe. I want to changed it myself if possible.

Mechanic said about $1400 for a 2nd hand unit with 3 months warranty, then about $1K to remove and refit in mine + scan.

I've not come across anybody in Darwin yet that can rewind/repair the motor, & seen some of the places previously used are not operational anymore. Covid again slows down and posted if required.

    Cheers.

Hi all. We have just replaced the HBB pump on my 2011 NW Pajero and we can’t get the new pump to pump. We have been told we need to turn on via the multi tool. We have a Snapon tool but it comes up but we are unable to clear the codes. I assume we need to have the pump pumping to pressurise the system so we can start bleeding from the front brakes?

all good found a fuse that was blown have to use a multi meter to see if it was the break was that small

Hey guys. I just replaced my HBB Motor and bled the brake lines, checked the relays all fine.
Now the ABS and ASC x 2 lights are staying on and the ABS is not working (I locked it up when taking for a drive.) What is the next step?
The alarm buzzer is no longer sounding

Sounds like you may need to bleed again, reset ECU and take for test drive. Remember ASC will stay on until you drive in straight line for approx 300m.

Hi, I am new here , I have the turkey chirping on my 2004 3.8 Pajero , I am going to replace the accumulator , I have read that there is a special procedure for pumping the brake pedal to release the pressure and also a certain way to bleed the brakes . Can anyone point me to a manual or pdf explaining the proceedure .
                Thanks

                  Ive got a Turkey chirpier,,,

Found a place local that can rebuild the Motor & accumulator, $1200nz, bit more that I had hoped for but my main concern is will this kill the Turkey or do I need to look at a full recon / replacement?

Thanks guys, the place ive found here is a brake specialist, given those links you sent show accumulators for about $400 and most posts seem to say $250-500 to rebuild the motor then $1200nz to do both sounds about right, contacting a couple of other fairly local places to check also.

My concern is since my brakes are still fine & other than getting warning lights if held on the foot brake in drive for a while if a new accumulator & motor rebuild going to fix my Turkey Chirp???

                          Mate it's a 21/2 to 3 hour job max.

Please report back on place that does rebuild.
I bought a rebuilt motor couple years ago from US eBay seller. Cost me as much to ship as to purchase ($200).

Ans so the story as old as time plays out once again,,,

Once the unit was sent there the confidently casual $3-600 has become "about $1000" & "we're waiting on a part, should be here next week"

Then to compound things I'm told "its actually not in bad condition & we've not really found anything major wrong with it"

All up its looking like $1600 from handing over the keys to driving away again so Major Minor or bloody Lieutenant for that matter, the Turkeys (warning) lights better out & it be dead & buried when I get it back,,,,,,,,,
