    60000km Service NX Pajero

Just got a quote from the dealer for a logbook 60000km Service of $1800...

I know little of diesils other than they need to be looked after competently. Is the dealer having a laugh or is it really a 6 hour job?

I'm in Brisbane so if you have people you'd trust with your mitsi I'm all ears.

Have a read of your owners manual and write down what is required for your service, then get a few quotes for this work, you can always go back to the dealer and see if they really want your work.
Not sure what is at 60000kms but 6 hours for a full service with a valve check is probably right but $1800 is probably just a little high. What is the hourly rate $200 an hour?

They said $145 /hr as the labour rate.

Items quoted if I remember correctly

      Oil + filter
      Replace coolant
      Brake fluid
      Fuel filter
      Vale clearance

      6hrs.

I know that you pay a premium at the dealer but that seems pretty steep.

If he leaves $1000 cash on the front seat after he does the work and gives you the car back then I,d say fair enough. Seriously go to an independant mechanic. Ring around and get as many quotes as you. Dealers arent called stealers for nothing!!

I just had this service done, but under $800 capped price - do you have capped price for 3 or 4 years? They had the car for about 7 hours, but unsure how long they worked on it. I checked afterwards for evidence that everything was done.

I was told it would normally be around $1,300 without the cap.

Ring a few dealers for a quote (they do vary), say you are shopping around & ask for trade/fleet price to win your ongoing business.

Quiz them to make sure the valves will actually be adjusted properly, not "audible".

If going independent, quiz them to ensure they know these cars well, that it is done to warranty spec, including genuine MMAL coolant (don't mix different brands/types).

Good question, I just checked and the 17 pajero was capped price to 45k, 60k was the first uncapped service. Thanks for the info though on pricing.

A lot of SEO marketing is now driven to common searches too, so you'll get very targeted pages on certain queries (e.g I got toowong mitsubishi as "pajero specialists" based on that query.

Now they don't neccessarily replace brake fluid or coolant. Both are tested and if ok change is not done. Valves might be "audible". if ok nothing done. So $1800 for an oil change and fuel filter change sounds expensive. Just my opinion.

a TIGHT VALVE IS NOT AUDIBLE...THIS IS WHY THE "AUDIBLE" $600 TEST IS BULLSHITE!!

                    Who told you that?

Coolant and brake fluid MUST be done at intervals specified. If the dealer doesn’t, then you should go back to them and complain.
