For a gen 4 you need metric .1mm for intake and .15mm for the exhaust.

Make sure you follow the correct procedure.
Tdc Cyl 1 and 2 intake. Cyl 1 and 3 exhaust
    Rotate 360 degrees
Cyl 3 and 4 intake. Cyl 2 and 4 exhaust.
Do not over tighten the lock nuts. They only need 9.8Nm.

If you have strait gauges they a little harder to get in.

No drama with the process I can’t get the gauges in for the life of me 0.1 for intake and 0.15 for exhaust

I know what you mean. I had the same issue. Not sure if it is ok but I measured on the cam lobes as couldn't get in with my feeler gauge. It certainly purred like a kitten afterwards so must have done something right. A quick note though. I got a gasket kit that had no seals for around the injectors. ( Thought it would be ok.... NOT) 1 week later had the rocker cover off again as oil leaked straight away after reassembly.

Not sure if that’s ok I can get the gauges in so I’m sitting like a shag on a rock for the last two hours 🥴 🔫.

I assume it’s a different measurement of the lobs?

I am assuming the issue is that it is unclear were to measure from?
The Gauge goes between the roller and the lobe.

In case you cannot get metric gauges, the clearances are 4 thou and 6 thous of an inch if you have imperial gauges.

I did it twice, first time was hard to get gauges in and I was too quick as I was also cleaning inlet manifold and I think that took all my nerves from the job. After that I decided to do valve adjustment second time and used some time to do it well.

I used normal straight flat feeler gauges, adjusted so that inlet was feeling easy to move with 0.09 mm, sticky with 0.10 mm and would not accept 0.11 mm and for exhaust same procedure with 0.14 mm, 0.15 mm and 0.16 mm.

It was hard to get gauges to fit for the first time, but second time with some practice it was possible and pretty easy after all. Just bend gauge a bit (do not deform them) and find a correct position for each valve and you will get gauges to fit between the clearance. Just use some time to find the right way for you.

Supercheap and Repco have feeler gauges.

All sorted a few were out on the exhaust side possible 2 though. And similar on the intake side.

I must confess through major embarrassment that I was in a hurry and was using 0.10 gauge 🥴 mine are imperial so once I got the 4 and 6 though it was sorted.

Thanks for all the help boys.

It certainly has quietened it down certainly at idle!

Whilst I was in the I swapped out the upper timing chain guide it was slightly worn but not much at all. I was really supervised how clean it is in there 👍👍👍

A question? What the average of a set of injectors on the pajeros? Any thoughts mine has 295000 I’m in second owner service interval buy me are 10000ks and before that was by the manual and stamped

Injectors for a gen 4 are 3 to 500 each depending or if there exchange, original oem, on sale etc.
