    So been watching andrew st pierre white on the pajero.
    Hes made some very good points and got my thinking

    Leaving your pajero in 2h or 4h?
    Who does what and why?

    Ns is always in 4h because has a vacuum/solenoid/hose issue. Nw usually in 2h. 4h normally only in the rain.

      4h will have gain fore safe driging, less stress on rear drive train and tires, but worst fuel economy (at least on paper)

      So driving in 2h is basically for fuel economy or if you want to have more "fun" in your daly driving

          Im interested to see if it actually does give such a massive difference in economy

            My NW spends a lot of its time in 4h. Difference in fuel economy is bugger all. I use 4h for wet weather and towing. Still get good mileage when towing.

              Like others its 4H for towing or wet & slippery roads and 2H all other times. i don't know about difference in fuel economy between the two as I don't pay attention and I have never towed in 2H.

                Like others have said its not much. Maybe an exta 0.5l per 100km. Your right foot plays a part in that thought.

                  I find (and I've posted this before) that due to the torque and open rear diff, even on completely dry roads 2H just does not have the traction. Boot it off the mark while turning and you risk getting a savage power cut as the ASC kicks in. IMHO just too dangerous when pulling out in heavy traffic to leave it in 2H all the time on the road.

                    Recently drove Sydney Brisbane via New England Highway, 10.5l per 100k. Returned coast road M1 9.8 fill to fill.

                    4H all the way.

                      I’d be inclined to say more like 0.05l/100. I’ve seen no appreciable difference between the two and 0.5 I’d notice. 4h safer as outlined by Keithyv and stays there for when the missus and the kids have the car.

                        Leave mine mostly in 2h but put it into 4h when wet, damp, gravel etc.........probably 50/50 when I think about it. Haven't noticed any increase in fuel economy.

                            This happened to me a couple times when I first got my Paj. For the next 5yrs it lived in 4H. After being on this forum for many years, I often read that fuel use will be higher in 4H BUT I have never read where anyone has been able to measure the difference. I can see no real reason to drive in 2H, unless you want to have some fun on gravel roads 😈

                              No. Your NG doesn't have Super Select, so no centre diff that allows the safe use of 4H on bitumen. Your 4H is the equivalent of Super Select 4HLc, and should only be used on loose surfaces - wet bitumen doesn't count as a loose surface.
