NL Pajero Front Brake pad tangs

My dear son removed both sets of front brake pads and now I note that the 2 of the four pads have a metal tang at one end. I don't know which way to install the pads. Can anyone advise?

Pads with metal tangs are the inner pads. Pads without metal tang go to the outside/wheel side.
