Not exactly a factory option but from what I understand the conversion is done with genuine Tojo gear. It would certainly help remove some of the truck feel.

      well thats sad

the only way to succeed with 4x4 SUV is a dual motor unit..

one to charge the batteries and provide power and the other to drive the car.. its been done. electric cars, are a complete waste of time.. not enough solar time to charge for any distance for what we use them for.. our power grid can never ever cope with the power-load.. not to mention if labor gets in next election, than all our coal plants get shut down and we loose 40% of our power-base.. and there are no plans to replace that 40%, apparently we are just gonna have to live with less power.. (another discussion). not to mention the amount of ecological damage batteries do to our environment (making them and disposing of them).

now i wouldn't mind hydrogen powered cars, same amount of time to fill up, same travel distances per tank, can use canisters for off roading and its renewable.. and at night we can plug our houses into our cars (they have it in California)

but then, i thought it was the goal of greens to stop all touring and 4x4 in the outback.. save the planet and all that..

and some believe holidays is polluting our planet..gotta stop those, more work there

and some believe no one should own any cars and only use public transport.. whoopie.. nice future there ;(

still very sad... i was hoping to upgrade my ride in a couple of years.. guess toyota or nissan will be getting my $$$ there really is no MM other than the paj that will suite my needs...

I'm not sure exactly what this means, but Motor Culture posted the following reply to my comment on another forum regarding the Pajero Sport and the demise of the Pajero...

This vehicle isn't set to replace the current Pajero. We have heard the following from MMAL: Mitsubishi Motors plans to make improvements to and continue to sell the current Pajero for the time being. At present, the Pajero is under study with respect to its positioning within MMC's future lineup.

This is what's "currently" available in the states. http://www.viamotors.com/

Now its a long bow to draw but the basic principle is likely to be applied to future plug in hybrid offroaders.

As an example the current experience with hybrid drive trains in F1 is that they went from using 200 litres plus a race on petrol only to about 100litres once hybrid drive trains were mandated. Granted they lean on the brakes pretty hard.

Its no coincidence Mitsubishi has partnered up with Bosch and yuasa to double the power and half the weight of batteries by 2020.

Now I've heard one of the archilies heals of the pajero has been the noise of the did. Electric drive coupled with the current 2.4 in pajero sport to provide range and boost power above the current pajero ought to solve that.

Bit of news from mitsubishis 3rd quarter financial presentation.

The next gen pajero "may" form part of the planning for the next generation pajero sport.

I've just been reading through all of the comments and it is a sad day as I've only just purchased my 1st Pajero (the best 4x4 I've owned) last year and will keep it until its completely had it, as I'm not to keen on the look or stats of the Pajero Sport (maybe one day it will grow on me) . On another note for the Electric side of things, as I know a few commented regarding electric 4x4's, I thought you may find this interesting as it is the RAC electric Highway now in operation over here in the west and goes for approx. 315.9 km, maybe in the future it will go up north and eventually across the entire country including remote areas i.e. petrol stations, cattle stations etc. http://rac.com.au/cs/idcplg?IdcServi...sed&noSaveAs=1
              No longer own a Pajero

So that would make it at least 8 years away, if ever.

I had a quick look at the Pajero Sport & Ford Everest a few days ago - I was left a little underwhelmed, particularly with the lack of space & poor visability & so yesterday I bought a brand new NX Pajero MY16 GLS - my 2013 NW VRX is now for sale (I'll post an advert tonight).

Hmm ....an eight speed Aisin transmission and newly developed 3ltr oil burner would be nice in it's current shape

Is this a hint of what may be around the corner?
