Default NS pajero idle issues

Alrighty, here is the back story:
went on vaca, came back to 2 completely dead batteries, like 2volts each. unknown how both drained with the isolator. but I figured out the issue was a code reader left plugged in.

The fault:
it will not high idle on its own and only charges at 13.3 at 750 rpm or 13.8 at 2000rpm

when I press the a/c button idle doesnt change and voltage drops to 13.0 at low idle

when I put it in gear the idle does not change at all like it should.

any ideas?

the asc light is on which means i need to drive it for that to go away which I will do later. but could that also lead to this issue?

any help is appreciated as I am quite stumped on this one.

Thanks.

The low voltages could be simply a short in your system somewhere, but maybe you have a diode in your alternator which has gone and shorted?

If the batteries did get drained to under 10 volts they will be toast and can not recover. Alternator may be charging but capacity in batteries will be very low. Engine running will be compromised especially at idle.

I also think that changing battery will help. 10volts is really low and very hard to get batteries to recover to full specs again.

If the batteries are not that old, it may be worth trying to charge the batteries with a good battery charger rather than by running the car, as the car systems sometimes won't push a charge into very flat batteries. If the batteries are quite old, they may not respond well.

Once you have the batteries sorted, hopefully the other issues will disappear - the ASC light will clear after a short drive.
