Default Cigarette Lighter Power

Hi All, I am wanting to run a Waeco CFX 110 of my rear cigarette lighter socket in my 2016 Pajero Sports. It obviously works fine whilst the vehicle is running but once the ignition is off, so is the socket.

I will be using a 250W solar panel (off ebay) which will be plugged via a regulator to the car battery to keep the battery charged.

Thanks in advance for your help.

The fridge will run fine from the factory installed cig plug for short trips but if you are travelling for days or weeks, you need a better and more permanent solution.

While a fridge will run properly from the standard cig socket, you should be installing a second battery, that being a deep cycle designed for long current draw. It should also be isolated from the starter battery via an isolator or even better, a DCDC charger and be connected to a dedicated outlet in the rear, being and Anderson plug or merit socket which stays live when the ignition is off.

The starter battery isn't designed for long periods of current draw, it's designed for a high output over a short time to kick the engine over. A good deep cycle battery will keep the fridge running overnight without any problems.

Not sure about the Pajero Sport but in the Pajero you can bridge out a relay to make the socket live all the time (Did that in my previous car a Terracan but have not got around to it in the Pajero yet)
