2.8 turbo diesel diffs are a bolt on option (if you get the whole assembly) and increase the ratio from 4.636 to 4.9xx (not sure of the exact numbers) this is my final intention for my diffs as well and no the transfer case wont need replacing. on a petrol this is an ideal way of regearing for those that want to get larger tires - no its not a perfect regear but its an easy off the shelf option. we have a few over here who have done this (even 1 gen 4) and are running 33's or 35 equivalents

1998 NL blisterside, 285.75.16's on -22 rims 3" suspension lift, stealth winch install, custom front control arms, NJ GLS flares and some camping gear in the back

.... and 1990 Nissan Z32 300zx for on road shenanigans
