Team Triton Tackles the Wet at Winton

Hear from Craig Dontas and Toby Price about their weekend at the Winton SuperSprint for Round 2 of the SuperUte Series.

    Race 1 - Price P3 & Dontas P5

Team Triton endured the wet Winton Raceway throughout Friday's practice sessions, with Dontas later qualifying P3 and Price P6 on Saturday morning in clearer conditions. Dontas was locked in a tight battle for P2 with Ryal Harris for almost the whole race but ended up off the road on the final lap when the Triton and BT-50 came together.

Dontas was able to recover just in time to cross the line in P4 behind Price but was issued a post-race penalty which pushed him back one position to P5.

Price finished the 9 Lap Race in P3, taking advantage of Dontas' tangle on the last lap after sitting P5 for the majority of the Race.

    Race 2 - Price P6 & Dontas DNF

Dontas started on the front row from second and quickly moved into the lead on the green light, but was forced to head into pit lane having lost an intercooler hose.

The Sieders Racing team was able to repair the Ute and Dontas rejoined the Race and set lap record times, but didn't complete enough of the Race to record a result and was handed a DNF Result.

With the pack tightly bunched, Tom Alexander tipped Price’s Triton into a spin three corners into Lap 1 and the #87 was forced to rejoin in last.

Price was able to make his way into P6 before the finish to record the only result of the Race for Team Triton.

    Race 3 - Price P3 & Dontas DNF

Price set the fastest lap in the final SuperUte Race at Winton, claiming a position for P3 on the final lap and finishing P4 overall for the weekend.

Dontas was forced into a second DNF Result in the final Race of the Winton SuperSprint, with the engine temperature spiking at the beginning of the Race and the team retiring the Ute as a precaution.

Price is now 3rd in the SuperUte Series Standings on 295 points, just 11 points from the lead, and Dontas sits 9th with 139 points.

Round 3 of the SuperUte Series is being held at the Townsville 400 from July 6-8, with all races to be televised LIVE on Fox Sports.
