I think he has one off those models that has the rear rear seats that run north south. 2 seats each side, over the wheel arches.
So he'd have 4 in the rear, 3 in the middle row and 2 up front.
I saw a pic of one on a Philippians web site.

G'day, this is my pig, affectionately nicknamed "the vaj" (wont go into that). It's the cheapest vehicle i've ever had. She's dead straight with no rust and only one small dent. I bought it from a young bloke who'd been told it had a cracked head, pulled it apart and it appeared it was only a blown head gasket. Came complete with 2" lift, 31" MT's, a pioneer stereo head and 200W rear speakers in removable boxes for camping/fishing/partying.

              Model: NG exceed import
              Year: 1989
              Engine: 2.5 TDI auto

              Mods:
              Cheapo snorkel off ebay
              Thermofan
              Bullbar ($150 off gumtree)
Spots (2nd handies i scrounged off a wreck)
Spare wheel mounted shovel/kangaroo jack bracket (made at work on nightshift)
Stereo upgrade - 120W door speakers scrounged from my old commodore, 2 x 10" subs and alpine amp i scored from a mate for a bottle of bundy...cranks real well now
False floor in the back for storing all the camping bits

to this date, i've spent about $1600, which included the original purchase price. i haven't managed to bog it yet, but my mate did yesterday. same mate bagged the old paj out when i bought it, cos he's a patrol man, but he spent half of yesterday thrashing around in it and is now in love with it
