    2008 Prado 4 Cyl petrol

A neighbour has come home with a 2008 Prado (4 Cylinder petrol engine). It looks OK. Neither he nor I know anything about these vehicles. Anyone here know anything about them - what to look for, what to replace etc?

    Do you mean 1998?
Only the 90 series Prado used a 4 cylinder petrol as far as I was aware, the 2.7L 3RZFE, which is one tough little engine....
2004 NP DiD GLX, 5 spd Manual with SMF, ARB Bullbar, Ironman 12000lb winch, Lightforce Genesis lights, Airtec Snorkel, 81L LRA tank, Unifilter, GME 3500 UHF, Redarc elec brake controller, ARB dual Batt tray with 60AH Deep cycle Batt & Redarc Isolator, Bushskinz Sliders, intercooler and sump guards, Lovells raised HD springs, Polyairs & Bilstein shocks, Milford Cargo Barrier, Philips +100 globes, 2nd set of rims with 245/75x16 Bighorns, Waeco 60L Fridge & a Cavalier camper trailer!

Thanks for your replies. Is there anything we should typically look for?

Yep, 120 had the 2.7 in it for a while as a povo pack (skinnies and all)
Can't remember when they stopped putting the 2.7 in the 120 but think it was before 2008.

The 2.7 is a tuff little unit for what it is. Been the Hilux and the Hiace apart fromt eh Prado, might have been in a few others as well.

Pretty sure you can get TRD SC kits for them plus some other TRD stuff as well.

Some things on the Prado look for:
Front lower shock bushes (applies to 95 and 120)
Front sway bar bushes, rear ones seam to last a bit longer (95, not sure about 120)
Steering rack mounts (95 and 120)
Cracks in the engine bay side walls/inner fender near the firewall, especially if it's got a bullbar fitted (mostly 120 but have seen 1 or 2 in a 95)
Tcase selector bush (mostly 95 but also 120)
Grease nipple on the rear drive shaft (not the ones in the UJ's) if it's been lifted and has two tanks. The grease nipple gets torn off by the tank guard (95, not sure about 120)
              Rear top shock bush (95)
Rear shock top mounting plate can elongate the hole and also ahve heard about cracks forming (95)
