No photos yet, but rewaxed it today, looking sharp. also ordered a few new goodies

      ordered:
1m long fibreglass uhf antenna - should be here this week
safari snorkel - will order tomorrow with return of email request

      Diesel status:
Some more bits have been ordered, inlcuding
      heavy duty exedy clutch kit
      oil pan gasket
and since the engine is out it will get new front and rear seals
rig is getting towed to its new home to be stripped monday night.

Also have lower control arm bushings on the way, then I can finally install all the new parts

Well I got my uhf antenna today, 1025mm long. woohoo, looks a little big form the photos, but its not to bad, about roof rack height so that works fine for me. I like it.
It will be moved to the pass side, but right now there is an old base stuck in it that I have to cut off form the previous owner of the bull bar

      gme 6.6db gain

I must be a little slow, because I have only just realised you are rebuilding a diesel engine!

I thought about doing this to mine, but realised that with the amount of work that would need to be done you wouldnt want to be paying someone for the time spent to convert it - you would want to be doing a fair bit yourself. Are you going to change the dash, bonnet, wiring looms etc? Do the diffs & gearbox need their ratios changed?

I like the fact you are still running standard steelies, it sets it apart from others. I really wanted to keep mine and actually thought about getting mine widened an inch for something a bit different. In the end I went back to my triton mags for that extra inch of width.

roof top tent and annex looks great! lots of room....

What bushes have you used to replace the lower control arm ones?

and what size are those spotties, they look perfect.

Any plans on where you are going to mount the air comp?

When I was looking for shortys i went and looked at one up in Sherbrook which had that same compressor, he had mounted it behind the windscreen washer bottle from memory?

Im getting mixed reviews of the nolathane stuff, i want to replace all the suspension bushes at once. Nolathane stuff will cost about $420 for the whole set. Judging off what most people have said rubber bushes are still the preferred option for ride comfort and longevity, but having said that the newer nolathane bushes are supposed to be a massive improvement from what they originally used to be....

theres also urethane kits like this - http://www.extremelimitsoffroad.com.au/prod598.htm

although i havent heard anything about them.

I have begun stripping the donor this weekend. am going back today to pull more apart. should have the engine ready for removal by next weekend. (fingers crossed)

Inspecting wires as I pull them out.. makes it slightly more painful process, but and faults I can pick up on

                          Turbo removed:
wastegate and actuator are all there.. but the bypass is welded shut, intersting move by mitsubishi, not sure what year the activated the wastegate though, will have to do some digging, my guess is 89 when they introduced the intercooler. The turbo will receive a rebuild as it leaks a small amount of oil.
