    EGR valve issue

A few weeks ago (probablymmonths now), I noticed that our EGR valve is leaking exhaust externally. It looks like the leak is from the diaphragm area, possibly through the shaft to the valve.

There’s no new noises or any loud noises.

Anyone had this issue before? How detrimental is this to the running of the vehicle?

I’m yet to pull the intake off and give that a clean out. When that happens I’ll look into blocking the EGR as I’ve heard good things about doing this.

    Cheers

    Hi Bennie,

Are you seeing excessive black smoke when travelling at lite throttle between about 60-80km/h? I removed/cleaned my EGR valve but didn't stop blowing smoke until I blocked off the valve. I believe there have been others that have had torn diaphragms too.

No smoke. We’re lucky in that regard I guess!

I should’ve said, our NP has 330,000km on her.

      Cheers
