    Gen2 fuel gauge sender

Does anyone know where it is? Is it part of the fuel
pump or is it a separate item?
My fuel gauge is stuffed, barely gets to 1/4 anymore
(yes I do put fuel in it) and mostly sits below empty.
Low fuel light still works though.
    Cheers

On the fuel tank you have two sets of wires going into the tank. With mine (petrol v6 3.0 (looking from the back wagon door)), the one on the right is the fuel pump, the one on the left is the sender unit)...hope this helps. You will also find that when you have the car running, you will be able to unplug the fuel pump lead and the car will die (confirming its the fuel pump).
Oh BTW, if you dont know, to get access you will have a sideways diamond shape cover bolted on the rear floor of the rear of the wagon, undo the bolts to this and you will find the sender and fuel pump.

I played with mine yesterday. If your handy with a multi (ohm)meter the sender should measure 0 ohm (full) to 90 ohms (empty) between the yellow wire and black wire. If the readings are all over the place/inconsistent or high you'l need to open up the unit and clean it with CRC contact cleaner and ensure the contacts make properly by manipulating the strip.

The Yellow/ blue wire is for the low fuel warning light.
