    Rhino Pioneer Trays and Platforms

Is anyone using the 5 plank version (about 1330mm wide) on their Pajero? I gather the 4 plank (1140mm wide) is a better fit for the Pajero, but just wanted to see what others have before ordering, and what they think of it.

    Hi Aaron,

In my opinion the Frontrunner full length rack are a stronger expedition rack than the Rhino Racks.

I've used a 5 plank version. I think it fits fine (I made the mounts and wind deflector though so just ignore those ).

I had it installed on my NL originally but bought it thinking I would buy a Patrol next so got the larger Patrol size. Obviously, I ended up buying another Pajero.

I had the four plank on with factory roof racks, it was a bit cramped when fully loaded up with extra spare for remote area trips. I subsequently sold it and put on five plank version when installing the roof track system. 1330mm gives more room on top so more options for spacing load, and provides a better platform for mounting side awnings shovel holders etc as they sit clear of the vehicle roofline.

The only downside is the wider platform puts the drip line beyond the vehicle gutters so you get extra wet when opening the doors in the rain.

The Frontrunner system Jack mentioned earlier in the thread looks pretty bombproof, would definitely consider it if I was starting from scratch.

        Cheers,
        Stephen
