Pajero Sport Awarded 5 Star Safety Rating

Awarded a 5-Star Safety rating from ANCAP, it’s safe to say that the new Pajero Sport is one of if not the safest vehicle ever to be produced by Mitsubishi.

Mitsubishi’s 2016 Pajero Sport brings a number of new and existing safety features to the table, ready to take on whatever you throw at it; check out what’s on offer below.

New active safety features on the Exceed model include Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Ultrasonic misacceleration Mitigation System (UMS) and a Multi around Monitor (MMS) which will feature on an Australian model for the first time.
Mitsubishi Motors’ Blind Spot Warning system uses ultrasound sensors located in the rear bumper to detect vehicles near the rear quarters, alerting the driver through an illuminated symbol in the driver’s mirror and via an audible alert.

The Ultrasonic misacceleration Mitigation System (UMS) reduces the chance and severity of hitting obstacles when the driver mistakenly presses the accelerator when stationary or at speeds of up to 10km/h. The system uses ultrasound sensors to detect obstructions in front of or behind the vehicle and will regulate engine power while emitting an audible warning.

The Multi around Monitor displays a bird’s eye image of the vehicle’s perimeter using four cameras to assist the driver when reversing or parking. A reverse camera and parking sensors are standard across the range.

Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM) that utilises a millimetre wave radar mounted behind the three diamonds emblem on the front of the vehicle will judge whether there is risk of collision with the vehicle in front. A visual and audible warning is provided if a collision risk has been identified escalating to autonomous braking if a high risk of collision has been determined. FCM will feature on the Exceed model, rounding out a list of advanced safety features not typically found in this class.

Mitsubishi’s own Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) impact safety body design and a total of seven SRS airbags which includes dual front SRS airbags, side and curtain SRS airbags and a driver’s knee SRS airbag provide occupants with outstanding passive safety.
All models will feature Trailer Assist Stability Assist and Hill Start Assist. Active Stability and Traction Control are fitted along with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) and an Emergency Stop Signal (ESS).
