    LED Bulbs for Interior Roof

Guys, looking at replacing some of the original bulbs with LEDS in the 9/2010 NT Pajero: only doing rear compartment (roof) & side door lights (roof only & not lower door) ? have already replaced mirror/front interior cabin lights with LEDS courtesy a new roof console with already LEDS fitted. Can?t see anything on the forum so can somebody either direct me to a thread or advise me of the replacement bulb types, please. Also, where to source for best price and service. Thanks.

I just replaced my globes with some led ones from eBay. The globes are all the same size, 31mm festoon globes (I think that's what they is called!!). I looked around at Super Crap etc but didn't fancy paying $20/globe. eBay ones were 10 for $10 inc postage. Time will tell if they last but seem ok at the moment.

I did exactly the same thing as scarecrow, got mine from ebay for $8 delivered.
16 SMD LED 31mm led festoon

Has been in the car for 5 months, and have had no problems. All the guys in the 4wd club have had a look and are impressed with the amount of light they give out.

They have all gone out a bought a set for their own cars.

I didn't buy from this guy but it will help you see what I bought.

tip: the ones I got must but put in + to + and - to -.... The 1st time I put one in it didn't work until I reversed + and - ends

I got the 9 led ones so maybe not as bright as the 16's. Maybe next time. I also had a couple that didn't work so maybe I may have to turn them round. I figured at $10 if I got a few that didn't work then so be it.

Yeah scarecrow, I thought my ones where busted too, but it was just a case of the wrong polarity. 16's are great, but fell and light up nice and bright.

Bought some from Jaycar quite a few yrs ago when they 1st stocked them, to put in the Sportage, & didn't waste any time replacing the filament-bulbs when I bought the shortie as they make such a difference

              Hiya

I've done this also as previous post, but I searched and have used cool white. It appears as the same colour (without the bright white). It also does dull a little before turning off.
I also done the ones in the doors as these can stay on for bit, but used green one direction leds for something different.
The rear luggage area is a large 31mm but for that size had to go bright white, not bad.
Ive also fitted two Blue top Optima batteries (1 crank & 1 deep) to finally eliminate my power supply problems.

              Hope this helps

I obtained some excellent CANBus compliant LED globes from:

Philips Australia OSRAM KONIK JW Speaker Car Auto Lighting Specialist LED HID Xenon Halogen Headlight Melbourne Australia

Not as cheap as some from eBay, but a few of the eBay globes I tried began to flicker after a short period.

There is no point in getting CANBUS compatible LEDs for the Pajero - there is no sensing for blown bulbs. The only exception is the Turn Indicator bulbs, as nearly cars sense if one bulb is blown by increasing the flash rate.

"CANBUS compatible" means they add a resistor in parallel with the LED so it draws the same current and not trigger a bulb-fail alarm - pretty pointless since it will produce as much heat and drain the battery as quickly.

Thanks Mike. Wasn't aware of the resistor used to resolve the CANbus issue. Good to learn something more about this. That said, I am very pleased with the LED globes I am using because they are wonderfully bright.
