    New side steps

Hi all, I am fitting some new side steps to my PC challenger to replace my rusty and scratched factory ones. I have some MCC steps which mount to the chassis. Right where the middle mounting goes there is a weight bolted to the chassis, can someone tell me what the purpose of this weight is? I am trying to decide if I will remove the weight or remove the centre mounting bracket. Thanks

It is a dynamic dampener, there is 1 on each side as well as on the rear diff.
