    NM Engine into NP

    Hello all,

    I'm checking to see if an NM 2001 3.5 V6 petrol engine would work in NP 3.8 V6 2004.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

        There have been a few 3.8 Magna motors fitted to 3.5 Pajeros.



        Mainly manifold and mounts swapped, and other stuff....Probably....


        Might be the go to source a wrecked Magna with low ish kms?

          The issue I had was that my NP was in at the mechanic's getting the timing belt replaced when he suddenly closed up due to bankruptcy. The motor with all the bits was in the shop and I couldn't get it all back. Luckily, I got the car towed as it was outside so all the bits are missing. The motor was a 3.8l

              No, I went back a few days later to see if I could get my engine but the workshop was cleared out. Nothing left in it...

                Something similar happened to my father years ago. It’s absolutely crap!

                  I seem to remember that the 380 sump/oil pump is a different shape/size to the paj 3.8 bits and not interchangeable with out much modification. You should check this out first....

                      I'm guessing you have a 3.5 available?


                      You could use it for mounts, sump, manifolds etc to do a 380 swap??


                      Need to read up on 3.5 to 380 (Magna) swaps first....


                      Or....just fit the 3.5 and see what happens....May need the 3.5s ECU to make it happy...


                      Also hunt down the bankrupt c***t and and make his life even more miserable....


                      He almost certainly had $thousands of unpaid debts/bills and now they are all magically gone.


                      Probably start a "new" business in his wifes name and live happily ever after.....

                          Finally got the motor but it's missing the intake manifold and throttle body so in search of these parts.

                              I was told that there was low compression in one of the cylinders, so the engine was removed for new rings and pistons etc. Paid 1k deposit but it all went down the drain...
