    Steering Rack

    Gday,
My NT has a leaking steering rack.
The leak is more like a weep and not really bad yet.
Located drivers side at one end.
She drives and steers ok and there are no symptoms besides the fluid leak which I saw when i removed the main sump bash plate.

    Has anyone had this ?
Is it a big job and what is involved, please ?
I am hoping that maybe some new seals will fix it.

I want to get it fixed asap as we tow our caravan with her.
    Thank you and safe travels

So after talking to MM and a mechanic it seems these racks can be rebuilt but to have it done by a mechanic would cost as much as a new one.
MM want $1800 part + $800-900 labour or can get a rebuilt one for about $500 less.

My mechanic says the fluid seep is not bad enough to worry yet.
I am now wondering if a stop leak fluid might stop it
eg. LUCAS stop leak for power steering.
    How about this then ?,
has anyone had experience with this product ?
    cheers

I used Penrite Stop leak 2 from supercheap on my 2005 Triton about 2 years ago and still haven't needed to do a top up.
