Would like to see pics. Gonna be a nightmare to change original filter though?
Just thinking the same thing. Want a secondary filter, but have second battery on one side, and snorkel on the other.

Does anyone know in adelaide where you can buy diesel care fuel filters from?
Not sure if your still looking but you can get the kits from HiTech diesel at kilburn. The price is the same as on line and they will mate the kit up as you like with everything provided.
One of my first decision, was getting secondary fuel filter for the Paj.
A bloke went down the track towards Adelaide on a rellie last month or so in, a 2016 Hilux, got to Bullman about 1/2 way..
The Hilux started pig rooting and playing up, he got to Tennant Creek...fuel filter problems was the diagnosis.
I believe now he got a secondary filter fitted...
Change the filters on every service for the Paj.
Diesel up here can be very dodgy in some places.

Peter, some off us live in the big smoke with pretty good diesel and don't have the drama you bushies do. As Hill has said in mentioned in another thread it is up to the individual when they change the filter but filters work better not when they are new and clean but after some use.
What I don't understand is why people put a 3 micron before the OEM 11 micron filter. You may as well not have the OEM filter in place.

The OEM one in that setup is still needed as it has the water alarm and priming pump. But, yeah, I fitted my 3 micron Donaldson as secondary and after 10K kms of so called big smoke Caltex Vortex Diesel, it was dirty. There is a thread on the Donaldson setup where people have posted their used ones.
Thought that I'd post a few pics of the install I finished today.
My skill level is that of a novice when it comes to anything mechanical, however the instructions that came with the filter package were easy to follow with pictures & all parts needed to install.
I chose to install the Diesel care 2 micron as a secondary fuel filter- logic being that if the primary filter picks up water & the light comes one, I've still got time to stop & release the water from the new Diesel care filter through the drain at the bottom.
I chose this filter because my second battery under the bonnet next to the primary fuel filter takes up all of the space where others have installed their secondary fuel filter.
Cost was $365 delivered from Diesel care & they were very helpful when I called with questions during the install. (I have no links with them, just in case you're wondering).
Would really recommend this product for those who want a secondary fuel filter but can't install the well-recommended Donaldson next to their primary filter.
Thanks to Hill & others for helping me to learn firstly about the importance of having a secondary fuel filter & also the specifics of which & how to do it.
If I can manage to install this by myself, then anyone can!
Thanks again,
Sam
that price is very expensive $365. you can buy these from ebay for around $185 and they are the genuine job.

I change my OEM filter every 10k service and the secondary filter about 25k or 12months, which ever comes first.
In regards to City v Bushie diesel, there have been instances where blokes have had crook fuel from a city suburban fuel station.
Check with the fuel forums...there are a few posts regarding crook diesel fuel and the cost and hassle of getting the problem fixed and remittance.
When you can be looking at anywhere from 10k upwards cost of replacing fuel pump and injectors (depending on make and Model of 4x4)..
I have spoken to a few diesel mechanics in the business who have worked on 4wds and heavy machinery.
One bloke who has been in the diesel repair industry for nearly 40 years...
" with the types of high pressure rail diesels on the market today...you can not afford, not to have a secondary fuel filter.
... years ago, pre the CRD evolution you could get away without a secondary filter and with a bit of muck in your fuel for the diesel delivery systems were not a complex highly pressurised and electrically controlled system as they are today.
you could disconnect the injectors, clean and bleed the system, re connect, check for leaks, check seals and prime, crank over and you were away...simple...there was a lot of design and engineering flexibility with those systems.
Not any more.."
I had the same filter on for a few years and it's been great, and like others found it easy to order direct on line .... I bought the primary filter version.
The only down side I see is the easiest install position (where Sam and I have placed them) is the same location that a snorkel needs to come through at a later time!
Has anyone found a good spot to fit it that has a snorkel? I have a 2nd battery so no space there.
I have a second battery and snorkel, so i made up my own bracket and a heat shield to install the secondary filter. Engine bay now full! See photos. I have had this installation for over 3 years now, and seems to work fine. The only issue i have had is that Diesel Care gave me plastic plugs originally, which started letting air in after about 12 months. After spending $250 with a diesel specialist problem finding why it kept on stalling after startup, finally worked out that these $3 plugs were letting air in the fuel lines when the engine cooled. Replaced with brass plugs and now all fine.

I just put the same one on my NP yesterday. I couldn't believe how easy it was to fit. It took about half an hour and looks pretty much the same as yours so I won't bother posting photos. It is a bit more expensive than the Donaldson one, but with the second battery and the ease of install I think it was definitely worth the money. Great peace of mind with the second filter, especially after seeing prices for pump rebuilds.
Hey I installed the same a few weeks back. Just wondering if your system still works well and have you had any problems with it. There is a bit of talk out there about final filters being not such a great idea.
I look forward to your response.

And that is all it is Pedro....talk. Good quality secondary filters have absolutely no negative impact on your fuel system. I have yet to see anyone whinge about their secondary filter and remove it.
