    PB rear bar and tyre carriers

    Well after completing the Paj a few years back its time to have a cram at the challenger. With departure for the Simmo getting closer the spare has to go some where to allow the extra fuel.
    Firstly remove the factory bar

    Bang some angle onto some box, that's the engineer hard at it

    Work out the step to get the bar up abit


    Trim the surplus from factory bar these bits are not required

    Refit side panels and trial fit bar

    Some pretty lights fitted

    And now it's to dark so tomorrow mount a couple of stub axles and start the filler panels

      The step is really the only way to do with the way the PB has the plastic side pieces on the bar cover, a total different rear bar cover the the gen 3 so the step is need to mount the stub axles to

        End of day two after a oh moment with a towbar bolt and a bit of a delay this is construction so far and I must say those leds are bright total spend so far about $300

            Do you have any pics / details of the one you did on the Paj?
            1999 NL 'Escape' 3.5 V6. GQ coils rear lift, front TB wound up, 15" black sunraysias with 32" motorway mongrels, ECB aluminium bullbar, full length roofcage, Thomas blue tongue air compressor with 12l tank, 12000lb Runva winch with dyneema rope, uniden UHF, home made water tank.

                    The horizontal bar had a slight lean on it and rather than
                    Cutting the hub off and trying to reshape the curve it was easier to slice the box to lift it and reweld it

                      Can I make 2 suggestions.....

                      1. weld a gusset between the horizontal and the vertical of the carrier

                      2. Put a dust cap on the carrier bearings.


                      Apart from that...You're the man. Great work.

                            Not the plastic bits, there in the local land fill. Steel paneling is yet to be made to go on there, just running short in time at the moment to get ready for the trip in a few weeks so more attention to getting the bar and carriers on
