Ranger wheels

Hi guys.
Has anyone fitted 8j 18 ranger wheels to a NW.
I know the hub centric hole will need an adaper 93/67 but what about caliper clearance.

I know nothing about the wheels, but since the base model Pajero came with 17" wheels, it is likely that the calipers will easily clear the wheel rims. You also have to consider the offset of the Ranger wheels.

The Pajero are 7.5j18 et 46 Ranger 8j 18 et 55 so the inner edge would be 11mm inwards.
So many Ranger wheels and tyres brand new for sale dirt cheap.

11mm inwards, this is a problem.
1. You are decreasing the vehicle track so this is illegal.
2. It will change the scrub radius of the steering and and this will effect the handling of the vehicle, particulaly the self aligning torque characterisics of the steering. There may or may not noticeably change the performance of the ESC system.

I have read VSI8 twice and cannot find where it states that the vehicle track can be decreased 25mm. What section is this statement in?

That's a good question!
The National Code VSB14 NCOP 11 specifically states wheel track reduction is not permitted on passenger vehicles but on MC (light off road vehicles) it states to contact the relavence registration authority.

Since the Pajero's front suspension is independant and not a live solid axle, it's design is similar to a passenger car so I would be most surprised if you could get approval.
Both VSI8 and VSB14 state that no part of the tyre or rim shall contact any part of the body, suspension or steering components during the entire suspension and steering travel.

Why argue with the rules or regulations? You have been well advised that is not wise to use these wheels on a Pajero. Think of the consequences if you go ahead and are involved in an accident.

So back to the original question.
Given that Ranger wheels are not suitable.
Has anyone used Collorado or Toyota wheels that would result in a track change within the legally allowable limit.
And secondly will 17" rims clear NW calipers.


PS. this is also in VSI8: the overall diameter of any replacement rim and tyre must not be:1 more than 15mm greater than largest diameter tyre specified by the vehicle manufacturer for that model or vehicle series; or
