What does the Mitsubishi Logo symbolise?

    Taken from the Rockauto site:

What does the Mitsubishi logo represent?
    A. Yataro Iwasaki, Mitsubishi's founder, picked a logo similar to the three leaf crest of the Tosa Clan, Yataro's first employer.
    B. The three stacked rhombuses in the family crest of Mitsubishi's founder.
    C. Three water chestnuts.
    D. All of the above.

    Nice one, erad!

I always thought it meant "three diamonds", but this gives some historic insight.
Now, what does "Pajero" mean in Japanese? (We all know what it means in Spanish...)

The name comes from a South American mountain cat, Hence the cat on early model wheel covers etc.

The name Mitsubishi (三菱) consists of two parts: "mitsu" meaning "three" and "hishi" (which becomes "bishi" under rendaku) meaning "water caltrop" (also called "water chestnut"), and hence "rhombus", which is reflected in the company's logo. It is also translated as "three diamonds".
