Engine idle problems after changing leads

I replaced the leads on my 98nl. Since putting the intake manifold back on my car has been idling at 1500rpm! Have checked all my vacuum hoses are secure, could it be a simple case of the throttle cable bracket being mounted in a slighty different position after being re-assembled? The idle has also been fluctuating slighty as if the engine is searching for a rpm to idle at? Please help

It sounds like you have induced an air leak somewhere ? Manifold Gasket ?

Maysound silly but have you made sure that the air flow sensor is plugged back in correctly ?

Im thinking about doing the whole job again. I'm hoping its not the manifold gasket leaking but i guess i'll go right through it again as its driving me crazy. Thanks for the advice mate.

If the throttle-cable has been undone (which is unavoidable), it can put the idle-speed-control out of adjustment. Just needs to be tweaked, refer to workshop manual for instructions.

I had a high idle problem that baffled me for weeks. Ended up being an air leak between plenum and maniflod. I used UltraCopper gasket sealer spray on a used original gasket and it sealed beautifully. Idles perfectly now.

yes you could have an air leak in the p/ chamber that you removed but hopefully not. re check all connections to air lines and electrics and then if all is fine , disconnect the battery power for 10 minutes and try again for a slower idle when warmed.

Cheers guys. Will let you know how things progress, fingers crossed i can solve it. At least the change of leads has fixed the slight miss the engine had
