Default Card holder removal - place for switches.

finally got around to removing the card holder unit in the dash and put in something useful.
Now I have a place for all the switches that are coming up in my next few projects.

ARB compressor installed.
Front diff lock sitting in the shed ready to go.
Rear fridge on/off switch needs a nice place to live.
2 other spots waiting for new projects.

nice work, I have been looking at doing this as a place to house radio comms. Was there much in the way dash removal to get to it? From a brief look at mine it appears it is almost an unscrew and lift out job......

Looks like mine, a great use of an existing wasted space.

Remove glove box ( silver trim over glove box to get top screws).
Remove under steering wheel trim. Be careful if you have the later model with the airbag. Need to disconnect the battery if you are going to remove it completely from the car.
Remove lower kick trims in foot well. connected to centre console.
(this is what your left foot leans against when sitting in drivers seat).
Remove screw either side of the console section being removed.
Tricky bit, there is other posts on here about removing the centre displays but I just reached around behind the temp control panel and pushed it out toward the rear of the car and with a pop everything came out at once. Didn't get a photo of this sorry.

HEAPS of room behind the panelling.

Nice work WREX.
I wish I knew about the room before shoe horning my UHF unit under the steering column area.

Thanks Pajbus. Sound pretty close to what I expected (unscrew and lift out was a little bit simplistic rereading....... Have to be careful on the airbag though thanks for the tip...now to by the uhf to fit in tha hole.
