Quick look on carsales suggests a gls drive away price of $51490 is readily available in NSW.

When I was shopping around at Adelaide dealers two years ago I couldn't get within $2k of Melbourne prices. The Adelaide dealers were rock solid they couldn't match the Melbourne prices.

I figured it would cost me less than $500 to fly to Melbourne to buy so emailed a Melbourne dealer for a price to an Adelaide buyer.

Within about 4 hours I received a call from one of the Adelaide dealers that couldn't move on price to ask if I was still looking to buy.

When I said about my email to Melbourne suddenly they could price match.

Two days later I received a call back from the Melbourne dealer just to make sure I had been looked after.

That's how much my my18 exceed cost me (financed amount) with a novated lease.

A new one was about 58k onroad direct from the shop without a lease.

Either try a novated lease or use a buyer's agent.
Arb can usually point you to a buyer's agent they recommend.

The buyer agent I got a quote off was $900 more than the quote the novated lease company gave me. So still 58k ish - but the novated lease you "save GST".

Lucky your not in Singapore!. When I was there a couple of years ago a VW Polo was over SGD $100,000 while in Australia they were around AUD $20000. At the time the SGD and AUD were within a few cents of parity.

And apparently you had to pay something like $10000 for a five year car ownership permit.

Plenty of high end cars getting around too, Range Rovers were very popular. Can't imagine how much they cost ?

The government don't much like cars in Singapore but it does like money.

Keep shopping. I bought my GLX in Nov 2017 (manuf Sept 17) with towbar fitted drive away for $47,000. A broker came back to me right at the end at $46,700 but motorama springwood were great from the get go with a keen price, helpful and no hard sell so they got my $$$$ and have been great since with services etc.
