Gday.
I am about to get the Pajero lifted. (planning on placing the order this coming week)
I am asking the installer place to get me KCFR-34HD for the front and KCRR-35 for the back with Bilsteins shocks.
Typically, the back will be empty, other than the 24kg towbar, the 12kg 4mm boo bumper guard and minus the 7kg off the tiedown bar that was removed. But when out for adventure time it'll be loaded with a big tent, water, food, cameras, people, etc.
At the front, currently there's the 4x 4mm boo plates - intercooler, sump, transmission, transfer; which I weighed to add 28kg to the car (after removing the OEM intercooler and transmission cover) and a little HPD can.
The aim of the lift is to lift us up a bit to be more confident on the sand as later this year we'll go to Moreton/Fraser.
Eventually (6 - 12 months) I would like to get a winch compatible smartbar that apparently adds 41kg. A snorkel may also be done at this time.
It may be a possibility that one day i'll get a winch - which is why I want the winch compatible smartbar rather than the other so that I have the choice when the time comes.
There is currently no plan for a second battery.
My question is ....
Given that I won't have the smartbar or the winch at the front of the car when I get the KCFR-34HD springs fitted - will I be in trouble?
Currently with the OEM gear the front is at 500mm and the back at 515mm from the centre of hub to arch.
Trouble being:
- Ride super harsh and horrible or just plain dangerous?
- Overall height increase beyond the 4cm that is allowed?
You might wonder why I don't get the smartbar first? Well, because I don't think I need the smartbar right now and would rather not pay the $3000, whereas I think the lift is something that will be needed this year.
My plan was to get the HD front and MD at the back and if the drive really is horrible - then to get the smartbar asap.
Thanks.
Oscar.
