    Passenger side mirror

Hi All, My 2012 NW ( 65,000kms) has had the external passenger side rear vision mirror replaced twice under warranty because of excessive play/movement. The last time two days ago. The right hand side one has had no problems. My car is serviced by an independent 4WD specialist. When I mentioned this to him he said it is a common problem with the Pajero with the LHS mirror mechanism. What have others found? My warranty expires Feb next year. I figure the next replacement will be at my expense and will be costly.( apologies if there is a thread on this - I did a search with no result).
    Cheers

Hi Alan No issues at all with either mirror mechanism and I use them each time getting into and out of my garage (2013 MY 2014 NW 56000km).

Apart from the fact that the mechanism is very weak and the drivers side mirror tends to fold in when I have my towing mirrors attached and a truck goes by, I've had no other problems.

2010 NT Pajero, and no issues with the side mirrors at all. Except the 2 occasions when i brushed them against the garage wall of my then tiny garage.

I probably didn't describe my issue correctly. My housing was OK and didn't move but the glass vibrated annoyingly. Sounds like yours.

              Yep that's the case.
My dealership has now lost me as a customer, terrible service from them at times. Other times good. All things considered in bslance they are in my opinion a Bunch of tnukz. Not a good place from my experience. Midland DVG Mitsubishi probably would look after a new buyer better. They would need to. Not me though.

Mine LH mirror does the same shake thing at idle. Seems OK when moving though.

I'll get it looked at next service.

Both external side mirrors have some play back and forth but drivers side seems to shake more while on the highway. Is it worth a warranty claim or is the whole unit a poor design?

Sound like a design issue. I've not had the problem with my NS. Is it only with later gen4's? Or perhaps only mirrors that have the indicator incorporated?
If someone has a spare dud assembly lying around, see if you can dissemble and get to the cause. If it's to do with a poorly fitting/weak part, send it to me and I can try to design a better one to replace it...

The service bloke said to me to take the outer cover off and there is some kind of screw assembly that hold the glass into the mirror frame. There sometimes is some play in that mount.
I have not investigated any further but it did not sound difficult.
(dealer dude all apologetic that they would not cover any of the niggling issues I mentioned under dealer warranty. Grrr. But I knew it was not worth jack shyte)

2012 NW, no issues with the mirrors so far. We'll probably be replacing ours in the next 12 months or so with bigger towing mirrors. I'm sure others will have done the same so may be some used ones lying around somewhere maybe?

Have you had a look at this at all?

Both my mirrors stopped retracting within 8 months of each other. Got it in at service now for this and other warranty issues. The service centre rang to say the passenger mirror is working perfectly, but they wanted $1000 to replace the drivers side. They won’t tell me what they did to get the passenger side one working though (side note, if anyone wants a recommendation of what service centre in Sydney NOT to use, it rhymes with Mutton).

So I figure it’s worth trying to have a look myself. Any tips on removing the housing greatfully appreciated.
