Just be aware that on start up it will pull close to 90 amps. I tested my single pot thumper and immediately on start up it pulled 43 amps. I,d expect double for a twin pot... Immediately after start up it runs at about 21 amps so I,d reckon that during normal operation the twin would pull low 40,s in the amps. Maybe after getting hot it could reach up to 50 amps..

After further testing I have found that the new twin pulls a steady 60amps when being used. 90 amps approx on start up. I put an andersen plug (along with the battery clamps) on mine. 50amp andersen plug does the job ok. They certainly push some air!!! Be great to have a 20 litre tank For $109 delivered I couldnt go wrong. Also purchased the tyre gauge.nozzle...good bit of gear. They also accidently sent me a complete wiring loom for their illuminater driving lights .

That might be just a tease mate – now you’ll have to go and buy the driving lights to go with it –

Actually I’ve been thinking of buying a set of those lights myself – I’ve got a set of Hella Rallye 4000 and one of the reflectors has gone all brown – a new one if over $200, yet I can buy a set (2) of the 9” SuperCentre ones for about $150. I’m just wondering if they would be as good as the Hella.

                  Cheers

I also have the dual-thumper. Seems to be a good compressor, it pumps my tyres up nice and quick. Shame it has a low duty cycle.

Question: Has anybody mounted and hard wired the unit? I have mine mounted in the rear of my Pajero, and am running off the same cable as I ran for my fridge. The first time I switched it on, it tripped the breaker (30a) that I had installed at the second battery under the bonnet.

Should I run a dedicated cable from my starter battery just for the compressor, and keep the fridge on a separate cable with appropriate breakers on each, or use a larger amp (>90a) breaker instead?

What is the preferred method for getting high amp feed into the rear of the vehicle? Maybe im better off with a high amp feed into a distribution box, with breakers / fuses for each accessory?

I had a single pot compressor in the rear that ran off an andersen plug via the 2 agm batteries in the tub. After testing the new 2 pot compressor and seeing it started at 90 amps and ran at about 60 amps I decided against hard wiring it and will now just connect it to the start battery when needed. 8 or 10 meter air hose means vehicle and trailer tyres are all within reach. 5kg less to cart around the city also.
