    Ocam tray... fitting accessories

Hi all, looking at an Ocam tray for the NW. I had a Rhino platform on the NP but was very dissented in the quality of the finish. The anodizing didn't even last 3 years.

The Ocam is at a much more affordable price point, but not sure how people go about fitting accessories to it like shovels etc. Any suggestions/photos of what you have done?

I’m actually weighing up these two brands right now, $1000 difference between the two!
The RR looks the goods, OCAM looks a bit povo, but as far as functionality...I’m betting both get the job done. I’m actually leaning towards the OCAM one for tie down points. The RR you have to buy a dozen eyebolts to secure your load, the amplimesh gives you a hundred odd points FOC. I’m not big on having fancy fittings dedicated to mounting every type of item either, much happier simply strapping down.
The OCAM is also 10kgs lighter, giving 10% more actual payload capacity.

I just fitted the Rola Titan tray with the low mount to my NX. Really impressed with the unit, they have mounts for everything, or just eye bolts and ratchet straps to secure the load. The weight is great, but most importantly, for me anyway, wind noise is non existent, and fuel economy hasn’t changed either.
I was planning on removing the awning from the tray if it was noisy or affected fuel economy, however have left it mounted as it does neither.
Price is better than the rhino rack, and unlike the Yakima/Kings trays, the slats run longitudinal not horizontal, so wind noise is non existent.

What I want to know with Rhino rack is as follows,

If you have the rack full of gear tied down fancy eyebolts & looks great all good & then the wife comes out with an extra armfull of goods, not that ever happens of course.

Throw them up there fair enough, but how do I then ADD extra eyebolts to tie these new editions on without removing the packed gear to slide the eyebolt in??

Something like this may work with Ocam rack for shovel spare wheel etc.

Yeah, now that you point that out I'm glad I pulled the trigger on the ocam.

I added an OCAM full length basket just before Christmas. A little fiddly to fit as they run close to the roof but nothing more then some scraped knuckles and a few F bombs dropped haha. I much prefer the functionality of having a solid mesh floor with cross members. Plenty of places to hitch ratchet straps/ropes/tie downs etc. Wind noise is marginal and not noticeable if running muddies anyways.
And as mentioned the cost saving was a massive bonus.

With the rola titan you can add eye bolts to the tray perimeter and on the four sides which offer some flexibility.

Finally got the OCAM tray fitted, gotta agree with the hand origami required to attach the tray to the rails, some cup head bolts from underneath would have made the job so much easier. Was dreading dropping the sections of ceiling and accessing the middle bolt, but that was a breeze compared to the tray’s bolts.
Only maybe 20mm clearance between the tray and roof centre, but the tray and rails are sufficiently rigid, no worries there for contact.
