I have recently painted the callipers on my Pajero.
Used very high temperature base, and ditto clear over top.
    Dirt washes off easier.

just be aware in some states painting callipers makes vehicle unroadworthy.

You got my attention mate. What info do you have on this? Seems like bullshit to me but knowing our governments I wouldn't be surprised.

          Hey Dicko.

Have read that if a hoon gets to smart with a Highway patrol cop they have been booked them for having non approved painted calipers amongst other things like the car being to low. Highway Patrol vehicles carry a device to push under the vehicle. If it touches anything underneath...defect.

That doesn't include OEM painted calipers.

In VIC it is unroadworthy, as the callipers may have damage that is being masked by paint, or could hide damage. Also may change cooling characteristics of callipers.

It is one of those rules. I have never heard of a problem, But its quite clear in the VSI (vehicle standards) that is is not allowed. And as it can be bloody obvious, you cant really ignore it.

I couldn't find any reference to paint on the Vicroads or VSB 14 sections relating to brakes. (That definitely doesn't mean it's not there though)
