in the service manual fuel filter every 30k km ( we prefer 20k km) some people prefer to run a prefilter which can also aid to remove water, but to be careful as some may limit the flow of fuel (Have found the Mitsubishi Genuine Filters to a pretty good job) ...

the ryco filters are fine (most mechanical workshops use them) ...

oil preference is a personal thing (as long as it meets' factory recommended specs) we stock up on the Valvoline when it's on special - keep an eye out ...

good to see you are using BP Ultimate ... the only other we might use if we can't get some is Caltex Vortex Diesel as this is also the only other that provides a better alternative to standard Diesel ...

I'm with you littleriver and use the 5w40 Valvoline full synthetic oil, I use the ryco filter as I when it is due (7500km changes oil and filter) when I get home from work on a saturday arvo drop the oil and leave it overnight to drain, the genuine filter is dead empty when I remove it, were as the ryco will retain at least half it's oil so I stick to the ryco. It's about finding what work for your needs, the type of driving and the distances for each trip, loads, and how long you intend to keep your challenger, and financial considerations, as to how often you service the challenger.

I use Castrol edge 5w/30 Syn which was recently on sale over the weekend $28/5l -$48 off! which is as cheap as it ever gets about twice a year.

Glad to see a method for oil filter - I was about to get the dealer to do it - worst position ever after also having a Mitsubishi Delica which was dead easy - on it also had a sump tap I used to connect a hose to through the bash plate hole
which was genius - can't remember the make of tap though

Actually this was it (I had the model with hose connector)
http://fumoto.com.au and just drilled a 15mm hole through the similar bash plate to access.

hope you have a catch can on Grimo ... 5w 30 is a pretty thin oil (good for Tassie and on fuel economy ) ... note on castrol site they go 10w 40 and as high as a 15w40 ... the newer vehicles running the 5w 30's are having a high volume of misting and catch can's are collecting a massive amount of blow by ... especially the Pajero Sport's

here's a test for those on the thinner oils ... get engine to running temp and take off the hose that goes from the rocker cover back before the turbo intake end and see how much it mist's ... (good indication of how that oil may be burning ) ... Diesel Care for one on their facebook do a few clips of the thinner oil's if one want's to take a look ...

not discounting that but im using based on advice of local TD specialist and tuner, mitsu dealer themselves (who use the same in servicing) and the castrol site (and after checking with rep) for which 5/30 is the only recommended fully syn oil in their range? ill look in to it though next change.

the only other option of heard of which may be any better is Mobile1 but it can be hard to get hold of at an affordable price.

I too was a loyal castrol customer for many yrs but also released they didn't have the oil that suited my requirements so then did a lot of research and changed over to the 5w 40 SynPower Valvoline ...
Supercheapauto had a special on Valvoline the other week @ 50% off so keep an eye out ... ...
