    Fluctuating idle after car wash

I have 2010 PB Challenger just been through auto car wash incl. under body wash. Seems to drive ok but at idle the revs keep dropping almost to point of stalling and then picks back up to normal idle speed. It keeps doing this fairly constantly. No clanking or funny noises or exhaust smoke. No sign of water getting down the snorkel and cleaned the MAF sensor anyway. Not sure where to look next.

Silly question, is the O2 sensor something different to the MAF sensor?

Yes it is. O2 sensor is in the exhaust, MAF sensor is in the intake.

I can't seem to locate O2 sensor on exhaust. Can you point me in right direction?

            Unsurprising that you're having trouble finding an O2 sensor. Probably because there isn't one . . . . ?

I'd be inclined to look for moisture that has found its way into sensor & actuator connections that are located relatively low down on the engine, such as rail pressure sensor, crank angle sensor, scv.

Throttle valve and it's position sensor is another possibility.

A wet alternator (and integral regulator) combined with a weak battery could upset your vehicle electronics. Check whether your headlights dim significantly when the low idle problem occurs.

Are you able to check for any trouble codes ?

Thanks King. approachin night time now. Will check the lights during rpm changes. Charging the tablet now to check for any stored/pending codes, despite no CEL occurring. I have done the scv plug and another plug near the scv that I think comes up from the crank angle (I think). The rail sensor is bit more of a challenge to get at because of dual battery. Save that until after kids gone to bed.

                So many plugs to check!

I would start with fuel pressure A06.

Wow what a spider web of connectors. Off to do fuel rail sensor now.

Persevere withe the rail sensor plug. It may take quite a bit of wiggling of the plug housing while pulling it rearwards (and depressing the locking tab at the same time).

Got rail sensor done pretty easy. I think it may have been the problem, but not 100% sure. It seemed suctioned on, but not really clicked into place. Got it back on and started up and the engine slowed almost to stall only once then rpm fluctuated only very tiny bit for minute or two then seemed ok. Won't claim success just yet.
