It's summer and it's hot! The air con in our Pajero is not working, sort off, let me explain.
It started with water on the pasengers side of the car. Found the outlet pipe near the fire wall, stuck a bit of wire up there, hey presto, all fixed.
Then it happend a second time!! This time the fix did not work. Found the fan unit (on the passengers side) had become rusty, wack with a hammer, WD40, worked for a little while.
Now the air con is really not working. Turing the fan control to 1, and the compressor comes on, no fan. Turn it to, 2,3, or 4, no compressor, no fan.
Only way we get cool air is to drive fast on the expressway with the vent set for out side, ok stop laughing.
Mitsubishi have quoted $800+ to pull the dash out, and then quote for a repair.
So my questions are these...
1. Is there an easy fix?
2. A place in Sydney for Pajero parts, werckers are fine, but where?
3. Some one cheaper than Mitsubishi to fix the darn thing!
4. The switch for the fan speed control, is it just a wire wound resistor that changes the fan speed? Then maybe I can just put 12v on a replacement fan and run the AC with just a switch.
Any help would be appreciated. Be gentle with me. ha ha ha
