"Sounds like they are easier on the gen 3 than they look on my gen 2. Good luck, hopefully you get it sorted"

Probably cos we have no chassis in the way!

2 or 3 of them you have to do by "feel" (just follow the wire you unplugged to locate the switch.)

Cheers
Dave

Oh boy, sounds like my understanding is wrong then. Apologies

I'm not a big fan of "fly by wire" type set ups, just introduces way to many potential issues, which it sounds like is probably the issue here. I remember years ago I drive into my sister's small town, and there was a near mushroom cloud of smoke and the service station was in flames. Turns out a car was just starting to drive out, and the fly by wire auto gear shifter put it into gear and the car shot forwards over the bowsers

Anyway-enough whinging by me. Turns out you should ignore what I've said

Hi Stu, Dave,
Yeah I am going off what the lights are telling me. The box or unit Dave is talking about has never made a sound. I've been under the vehicle whilst it's been shifted into 4H, 4HLC and 4LLC and not a peep anywhere.
Sorry for hijacking this thread. Unintentional.

You can just hear the motor about a minute into this video.

Near the end you can just see the black plastic box with wires coming out.

Maybe yours is old school as it's a 2.8?

Cheers
Dave

Is there a way to pull the codes? Mine definitely goes into 4WD (front diff engages and the transfer case engages the front driveshaft) but it throws the flashing lights and gives up, leaving just the centre diff light flashing. It doesn't even try to get back into 2WD unless I restart the ignition.

I really regret not replacing those switches before I installed the transmission.

Has anyone got the part number for the switches in the transfer case? can you recommend a seller on ebay?

Plenty to choose from, I got these because they offered express delivery, here in a week.

Don't f**k around testing/cleaning them just replace them all, 1 to 2 hours max! (quicker if you have access to a 4/2 post lift)

Cheers
Dave
