4x4 Newbie... Bullbar, Tyre, UHF advice

Hi gang, bought my first 4WD about 2 weeks ago and I am getting ready to add some mods. Sorry if these questions have been asked before.

I have a 2013 NW VRX Pajero. As far as I can tell it is stock standard. It was bought new by an older couple for towing a small caravan. I am the second owner and bought it from a dealer.

I have been pricing bullbars from ARB and TJM. The best price I can get for the ARB Deluxe bar fitted is $2442. TJM Bar is $2750 fitted. I was leaning towards the ARB but saw on youtube and this forum that the ARB is not attached to the vehicle particularly well and has cracked the mounting area. I saw that a few people recommend Opposite Lock bars. I have a quote for both the steel post and the loop bar of $2600 fitted.

What are peoples thoughts on any of these bars? Also if anyone has an opposite Lock or TJM bar are they mounted differently? The opposite Lock bar is a for a NT but I believe it will fit the NW.

The vehicle has Dunlop Grandtrek AT20 265/60/18 tyres currently fitted and I am not happy with them. They seem to have a lot of tread however lost traction on wet bitumen several times. I am able to get Toyo Open Country A/T 2 in 265/60/18 for a decent price. Has anyone got these fitted and what are your thoughts?

Lastly, a UHF radio. Can anyone suggest a UHF radio that they are happy with that wont break the bank. I have been mostly looking at Ryda as they seem to have decent deals. Looking at GME and Uniden mainly. I like the look of the UHF with the display on the hand piece but worried about it breaking if dropped and replacement availability and cost.

Thanks in advance for your time and patience!

Hey mate, I wouldn't fork out that kinda cash for a bull bar, you can pick em up in good Nic for $500 give or take by $200. Search this for sale section cos I think I saw one on here, I even saw a paj for sale on gumtree or car sales recently maybe a SWB and it came with a white bull bar spare - ARB, which is highly dependable.

Re tyres, the Bridgestone ko2 AT comes highly rated otherwise it's a piece of string question, mostly road, dirt? Tracked out hard ruts? Speak to a tyre specialist to get an idea.

    Cheers

I fitted a genuine MM bullbar from a NS Model to my NW Pajero no problems at all. NS is the earliest model you can use - the NM/NP model bars will fit but the heaflights are different.

I would also like to know how TJM bar mounts in comparison to ARB, for future reference.
I also note TJM is Australian made, probably why it costs more than ARB?

I still think Smartbar, is a very Smart choice & ECB Alloy bar also is a solid looking Alloy bar in relation to GVM's & front axle weights.
Not sure about these pair if fitting winches, arials, light bars etc though?
        Dunno about that.
