2 inch lift ARB vs TJM

    Hi guys,

Due to the shortage of Bilstein, the local workshop won't be able to fit the kit.

I am thinking about choosing between ARB and TJM.

Could anyone shed some light for me?

    Thx

What’s the go with The Bilstein shortage? We are on the sunny coast in QLD and I had a really in depth technical conversation with a suspension wholesaler yesterday who has specialised in 4x4 suspensions for nearly 30 years, he sells dobinsons, Bilstein, king springs, Lovell’s, and many others, his warehouse was full of Bilstein products not to mention all the other brands, I went there with the idea of most likely getting dobinsons however his advice especially since we have a 2017 pajero was to go with the Bilsteins and Lovell coils combination, this is due to our specific needs of needing it to be a family car that’s comfortable around town but also take a fair load for camping trips he suggested airbags would likely be necessary due to the weights that I quoted him, we don’t tow just lots of camping equipment like rooftop tent etc, I asked about the ARB, TJM etc he doesn’t rate them, in his experience he believes the Bilsteins coupled with kings or Lovell’s are the best for the pajero, the Lovell’s springs according to him are they tougher of the two and less likely to sag over time and give many years of quality service, the king springs are good but more for comfort, his price quoted was $1400 which included the fronts supplied assembled I’m doing the install.
    Hope this helps,
    Cheers Jason.

One workshop quoted $1,400 to supply. Another quoted $2,650 to supply and fit which includes a wheel alignment.

That's $1,250 for fitting and wheel alignment which works out @ $250 an hour for five hours max labor.

          I'd be looking elsewhere.

You could try 4WD Direct they are a suspension wholesaler here on the sunny coast QLD this is who we used they have a good variety of suspension manufacturers and different combos to choose from they supply the kits pre assembled and free shipping, the website lists all the different kits specific for pajero’s and prices to match might be worth a look.
              Cheers.

Somebody's making a killing. I was charged $2,000 in Adelaide for the King and Bilstein combo. Included wheel alignment, plus another after first 1,500kms. Shop around maybe?

Good to hear mate. I did shop around. It looks reputable workshops and big brands will charge around 2300 in Perth. Don't know why

When we travel in WA, we get the distinct impression most businesses think customers are all working in the mines and making squillions. Understand transport costs, but some were profiteering I reckon. Suppose your choices are limited to your locality, just as ours are in Adelaide.

I'd order online from over East. Sparesbox has a 15% off Bilstein special at the moment preassembled and shipped for about $1460 (see below). I'm assuming they have stock. You'd need to check the springs are suitable for your application too.
