I've had one for years now. Never lock it, as its just another chore to be performed. However the colour alone is a good visual aid. Now they also come type faced with diesel on it going by the link I posted earlier.

But its still not idiot proof.

MMA on the inside of the fuel access door of the NT have printed in bold writing...
"Diesel Only"
I couldn't miss it if I tried

Locking fuel caps are a PITA IMO as you have to unlock something else but they do present an added deterrent to those stinking thieves out there.

I've never had a problem with filling a diesel car with petrol but think that having a yellow fuel cap is an added warning. Could also go and put a "Warning - Diesel Fuel Only" sticker; on the dash, on the fuel filler cover/door, on the inside of the fuel filler cover/door, next to the fuel filler and anywhere else you can think of (that makes 4 or 5 stickers I s'pose :-) ), but as said, you'll never make it idiot proof and someone somewhere will still fill the car with petrol.

I must admit once or twice I've nearly put the ULP nozzle into the diesel hole on the Pajero. First diesel vehicle ever so it's a hard habit to break.

Having said that, any variety of signs etc aren't going to work as it requires the user to both read and comprehend!

I double and triple check every time I go to fill now.

This is also why I don't let my wife fill the Paj.
