The coils change alot between models and so the plug gaps did too. early EI coils on dizzy's put out massive spark to compensate their engines lean mixtures and the plug gaps grew to 1.5mm, and today the multi coils need do less work with modern hi-tech motors, and so are alot weaker/gaps reduce to .8mm again. Try what has been mentioned, gapping new plugs down, maybe go one hotter if running rough. new good quality/Ryco filter and change it every 20,000km, go a thinner good quality oil to reduce friction inside the motor. say 10w/40 and the large oil filter= from memory the Z63>please correct if im wrong..

Dunno if it makes anyone happier but I have a BA Falcon wagon and the average fuel consumption since the car was new is stated as being 17.6l/100k (according to the onboard ECU).

Edit: it was 18.9 when I bought it 20 or so months ago and it's done a tad under 200k at the moment.

Hi all, I have a 93 SWB 3.0 V6 12v Pajero and i think the fuel consumption is to big...
For 32 km, the car consumed 10 liters, on paved forestry road. What do you thing ? It is high consumption ?
I running on 31 silverstone xtreme + alloy rims.
          Thanks !

Were doing it in low range first, pulling a caravan, at redline?

Otherwise perhaps you have a hole in your tank...?

the car is not heavy, I don't have bumper, winch, or something heavy. Thus trip i running in Llc, on ~2500-3000 rpm....
The check engine is bright sometime and the temp. sensor is broke because, the engine not start up when is warm. Need to disconect the sensor soket and crank.it again.

And that is exactly your problem

If the temp sensor is not connected, the ECU thinks the engine is cold and runs it rich (like a Choke on a carbie'd car). I reckon if you replace the temp sensor, you'll find your economy comes back to normal

                  Hi!
I disconect sensor when the engine is warm, because don't start up, but after the engine starting, I'm conect the socket.
Today the fuel is empty at 39km wich 10liters.
PS: The smoke smell as if morning on first start up..... Sooo, burn more petrol, No?

I found that, when the "check engine" is bright, the engine is not running so well. After disconect-connect the soket of temp sensor, "check engine" is offf, engine running slightly better.

As I said, it sounds like your Temp sensor is buggered. First step is going to be replacing the temp sensor.

Have you by any chance checked for Fault Codes? This link may help you:

You will have to identify your model and go from there.

Today I ordered the sensor and other trinkets. We keep abreast of the evolution of the car.

Hi, today arrived the sensor, and I mount up. The "CheckEngine" has stop to lit.
I`m very curious if the fuel consumption he remained big...
This is a video with new sensor mounted:

If I discoect the lambda sensor socket, can I run? No defects nothing?
